Coronavirus does not only affect older people but our babies too, that is infants (less than 1 year old) and toddlers (1-3 years old). We have some tips and advice to help you protect your baby against Coronavirus:
One of the things you can do to slow the spread of Coronavirus is to limit contact as much as you can for your baby with others. Make sure your baby does not play with other children from other households and limit interaction with adults too.
Before touching your baby, make sure that your hands are cleaned with soap and water for at least 20 seconds to ensure that you do not spread Coronavirus to them. Whether you are breastfeeding, holding or changing diapers.
Where possible, leave your baby at home in the care of a family member. If you have to go out in public, wear a face mask, carry your baby and protect them from exposure to Coronavirus with a light shawl. Maintain the 1 metre safe-distance rule when out in public and wash your hands once you get back home.
Make it a habit to disinfect places within your home daily where many people are touching often. These can be tables, door handles, switches, your children’s toys etc.
When holding or breastfeeding your baby, where possible wear a mask to prevent any droplets from you coming into contact with your baby.
Children under the age of 2 years old should NOT wear a face mask because they can easily suffocate and are not able to remove the masks on their own..
